How to pick a size from our charts
Your usual size is not the same size on every style we carry. The charts are the only reliable guide, and each product page has its own.
The charts measure the garment, not you
Every number in our size charts is taken from the garment lying flat, not from a body. A bust measurement of 40 inches means the shirt measures 40 inches across the chest when it is laid out, not that it is cut for a 40 inch bust. On an oversized style that difference is several inches of room.
The measurements are also taken by hand, one garment at a time, so allow a difference of about an inch either way.
The fastest way to get it right
- Find a shirt you already own and like the fit of.
- Lay it flat and measure straight across the chest, from armpit seam to armpit seam.
- Double that number. That is the flat bust measurement in our chart's language.
- Match it to the chart on the product page, then read the fit note in the description.

Two ranges that will catch you out
- One style skips XL. The linen-blend three-quarter sleeve top above is stocked in S, M, L, 2XL and 3XL. There is no XL in between. If XL is your size, take the 2XL.
- One style runs to 5XL. The relaxed crinkle button-up goes S through 5XL, the widest range we carry. Most other styles stop at 2XL or 3XL.
Fitted, relaxed and oversized are three different things
Every description says which one a style is, because the same chest number behaves differently in each. On a tailored satin blouse the placket pulls if you size down; on a crinkle shirt cut oversized, sizing down just gives you a normal fit. Read that sentence before you choose.
